Participate in Expedition to Find Genghis Khan's Tomb
iExplore Named Exclusive Sales Agent for this First-of-its-Kind Tour
CHICAGO, IL –April 21, 2005 – For the first time ever, a select group of travelers can help archaeologists try to unearth one of the most elusive tombs in history: the tomb of Genghis Khan. In a new partnership announced between iExplore (www.iExplore.com) and Skybrite International, iExplore was named the exclusive sales agent for participatory tours visiting the Genghis Khan Expedition dig site (www.khanexpedition.com). This will be the first time ever that travelers can assist a team of scientists and historians from Mongolia and the U.S. in excavating what is believed could be the infamous warrior’s burial site, hidden since the year 1227.
The first “Search for Genghis Khan” tour departs August 15-28, 2005, and is priced at $4799 per person, land cost only based on double occupancy. The group size will be limited to no larger than 15 travelers. This unprecedented tour is only available through iExplore.
The tour begins in Ulaan Baatar, Mongolia, with an orientation and presentation by Mongolian experts on the Genghis Khan tomb site. Travelers will spend two days at the Genghis Khan Expedition dig site in Khentie province, having first-hand experience in this historical dig. The tour also includes visits to the Gobi Desert and the Karakoram region of Mongolia. Further information can be found at iExplore’s website (www.iExplore.com), or by calling 1-800-IEXPLORE.
iExplore CEO, George Deeb, said, “Consumers will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take part in what could be history’s greatest archaeological find to date.” Deeb continued, “Whether you want to roll up your sleeves and brush off artifacts, or sit back and watch the expedition team in action, a unique experience is promised to all.”
Due to obscure references in historical texts that mentioned the “confluence of two rivers,” Kerelen and Onon, U.S. experts were lead to the alleged site of Genghis Khan’s tomb, marking the first-ever U.S. involvement in the search. Thus far, the expedition has shown promising signs of unearthing one of history’s greatest mysteries, as it has already recovered many artifacts, including human remains, dating back to the 13 th century. Such artifacts will be on display at the dig site.

Legend has it that Genghis Khan was secretly buried in 1227. To prevent looting of the priceless treasures buried with him, all physical traces of the burial were obliterated and funereal attendees were slain, and in turn, their killers were murdered. Hence the significance of this potential find.
