I am a very experienced traveler at various levels from a custom museum docent-led five star accommodations to independent travel using private car and hotel guides to large group touring. In our family of my husband and five adult children, I am the trip organizer and couldn’t be happier with my experiences(s) with iExplore.
The first iExplore trip was to China for two weeks in October 2006 and second December 2007. What sets iExplore apart from any other tour is the ability to definitively plan before the trip each day’s components: from level of hotel to meals, and number of sites visited. Second, traveling in a minivan with a driver and guide allows for very efficient use of time. There is literally “no” waiting for members of a large group to appear, line up for restroom, meals, entry, etc. I toured China in 1999 with a first class tour group and the difference in time management was enormous. With iExplore we traveled quickly and efficiently with our guide managing the process. At restaurants there was immediate seating. Third, at various venues we were able to linger longer or cut it a little shorter at our discretion. Unheard of in a large group.
As you can imagine I was pleased to have the ability to plan every day in advance to see only what I wanted and to eat in a wide assortment of restaurants. With the experience of two previous tours I knew what I wanted to see, and thus really enjoyed working with Rosemary Burki to plan the perfect trip each time. She was able to suggest some new things to see and also give some input as to traveling in winter as opposed to fall, which was when I traveled to China the previous two trips. Any and all details were worked through to our satisfaction.
Several particularly special “only with iExplore moments” were: making alternative arrangements when our flight to Chongqing was delayed took us to the now closed panda preserve and asked the keeper if she would open the gated for our party of four. She did and we spent an hour alone in the park with the pandas. Now that was a real treat. In Beijing we were able add a detour to view some of the under construction Olympic sites, i.e. Birdnest Stadium and Aqua Cube. In Shanghai we wanted to find a special kind of teacup and our guide made some calls and found where they could be found. Plus, we made the special detour to pick them up on our way to our day’s activities.
We are looking forward our next trip next year to Egypt and it will be with iExplore. I have recommended iExplore to many friends and family.
