If you're a bit of a green thumb, enjoy all things botanical or simply want a break from your urban tour while still enjoying elements of the city you are visiting; a garden or botanical visit could be just your thing.

Many cities hide amazing gardens amongst their high rise or even boast superb flower shows. These gardens might reflect religious elements in their design and architecture and there are often concerts, restaurants and activities for children to enjoy in them as well. Many royal families around the world developed extensive gardens and happily these are now open to all, as are private estates and public parks.

And don't fall into the trap of thinking England is the only garden center of the world; you'll be surprised at the green gems hiding in New York, Tokyo, Iran or even Morocco.
