Ukrainians go skiing in the Carpathian Mountains in the west. The leading resorts are Bukovel, Slavsko, Drahobrat and Tysovets. Bukovel is the only resort of international standard. Drahobrat is the highest resort in the country and has the most reliable snow. The Carpathians are ideal for walking holidays in spring and summer. Cycling is becoming increasingly popular. Although the city streets are not particularly cyclist-friendly, there are several parks and forests in and around Kyiv which make excellent day trips. It is possible to hire bicycles in Kyiv for one or more days. Ukraine's countryside offers quieter roads and lanes for rural cycling. Travelers can take bicycles on trains as long as they are in a cover. The most popular spectator sport is football, although successes in the international arena for Oksana Baiul, Andrei Medvedev and Sergei Bubka have attracted many to figure skating, tennis and athletics.
