| Stretching across both sides of the Nile River, Luxor boasts much of Egypt's storied ancient history. On the east bank, an open-air museum is a marvel of Egyptian artifacts, while Luxor and Karnak Temples shadow the city's main avenues. To the west of the Nile, in Thebes, the Valley of the Kings houses tombs from 18th- and 19th-century dynasties, most notably that of King Tutankhamen. And throughout the region, you'll find vibrant bazaars overflowing with spices and clay pottery. |
