Day 1 Arrive Bangkok Arrive in Bangkok at any time.
Day 2 Bangkok Chaotic streets, busy canals, tranquil temples, colourful markets and food that defies description - Bangkok truly is the essence of Asia.
Day 3-5 Chiang Mai/ Chiang Rai. These northern cities have long been a traveller's favourite. Try the fantastic street food, shop at the night markets and visit any of the numerous temples.
Day 6-8 Hillside Trek Trek through the the rolling hills and mountainsides of northern Thailand, home to a vast diversity of ethnic minorities each with their own culture, traditions, language and costume. Stay in the homes of these friendly and accommodating people and learn a little of their simple way of life.
Day 9-10 Golden Triangle With the days of the opium trade well in the past, the Golden Triangle is now a peaceful area where Laos, Thailand and Burma meet.
Day 11 Ayuthaya Change gears with a visit to one of Thailand's many former capitals, a sleepy riverside town graced with ancient pagodas, palaces and shrines.
Day 12-13 Kanchanburi Visit the famous "Bridge on the River Kwai" and other WWII memorials in this historical area. Travel up river to stay in floating raft houses and visit the beautiful Khao Yai National Park.
Day 14 Bangkok Return to the chaotic capital and explore the weekend market.
For trips that run from May to Oct, East Coast
Day 15-21 Koh Samui, Koh Pha Ngan, Koh Tao Covered in coconut trees and rimmed with beautiful beaches, these islands are a perfect retreat. Spend your idyllic days swimming, snorkelling, doing yoga, celebrating full moon parties or just sitting simply relaxing on the beach with an ice cold Chang beer.
Day 22 Depart Bangkok
For trips that run Nov to Apr, West Coast
Day 15-18 Krabi, Ko Muk Marvel at the limestone karsts dotted around the coastline and kayak through local caves. Then escape to the little-visited Ko Muk and enjoy the idyllic island life.
Day 19-21 Andaman Sea A sea safari takes us to secluded islands where we fish, eat seafood and sleep in tents.
