Bordered by Honduras to the north and Costa Rica to the south, Nicaragua has both Caribbean and Pacific coastlines. Though relatively small - it's about the same size as New York State - the country has an interesting array of scenic terrains. Its topography includes large areas of jungle (nearly a third of the country is covered by tropical rain forest) as well as mountain ranges that run through the center of the country. Two beautiful large lakes, Nicaragua and Managua, grace the southwest.Day by Day Itinerary
Day 1: San Jose, Costa Rica- Granada, NicaraguaYou will be picked up at the hotel for the transfer to the local airstrip for your early morning flight from San Jose to Liberia. Upon arrival a representative of the hotel will pick you up and drive you to Penas Blancas at the border, where after clearing customs and immigration you will join another vehicle that will take you on to Morgan’s Rock. Enjoy the balance of your day to explore the surroundings. Morgan's Rock Hacienda & Ecolodge is more than just a hotel. It is a project of nature conservation, community development and reforestation offering Agro- and Ecotourism at its best. The hacienda is located just north of San Juan del Sur, about a 45-minute drive from the Costa Rican border and an hour and a half away from the colonial city of Granada in southern Nicaragua. Endowed with a private, white-sanded beach visited by sea turtles to lay their eggs, the hacienda also hosts its own primary tropical dry forest ecosystem.

Enjoy these days at the lodge. During these days you may choose two daily tours organized by the lodge, which you sign up for at the lodge’s front desk.

Morgan's Rock Day 5: Granada- San Jose, Costa Rica
This morning transfer from the hotel back to Penas Blancas border for the return to Costa Rica. After passing through customs & immigration, you will change vehicles and continue on your way to Liberia’s Daniel Oduber Airport, where you will board the domestic flight to San Jose. Upon arrival you will be met and driven to your hotel.
